1918 Cantata

The 1918 Cantata concert is based on Kevin O'Flaherty's poem 1918, commemorating the life of General Sir John Monash GCMG, KCB, VD (1865-1931), exploring his leadership qualities and community-mindedness.

The 1918 Cantata is for choir, children's choir and soloists.

A 1918 Cantata Concert:
John Monash - from Melbourne to Gallipoli

At the 1918 Cantata concert held 17 May 2015 at Scotch College in Melbourne, the themes were the Australia which shaped John Monash (Melbourne, Jerilderie, Scotch College, Melbourne University, engineering, militia) and the Gallipoli landing. Far from a glorification of war, John Monash is pervaded by his dictum "Equip yourself for life, not for yourself alone but for the benefit of the community".
